Students receive a Health and Safety Institute BLS Provider Certification valid for two (2) years upon successful completion of this course. The intended audience includes:

  • Healthcare providers (in and out of hospital)
  • Public safety professionals in a variety of
    occupational settings (Police, EMS, Fire)
  • Individuals enrolled in healthcare and public safety
    career training programs

Non healthcare providers are welcome to take this class and there are no additional requirements. Optionally they can take our Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED course designed for lay-rescuers.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the 21-question BLS written exam
  • Demonstrate skill competency as indicated by the skill criteria on the “Adult BLS” and “Infant BLS” Performance Evaluation Sheets

Beginning Oct 1, 2025 sales tax is added to all classes per WA State Law. Class cost is $62 with $6.57 tax, total $68.57

  • What to Wear: Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, as you'll be participating in hands-on skills practice.

  • Parking/Directions: Plenty of free parking is available in the parking lot of the Alderwood Business Campus, we request that you park in the middle of the lot and not directly in front of other businesses if you are able to out of respect for our neighbors.

This course gives you a comprehensive introduction to basic emergency care when responding to adults, children or infants, such as CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and basic first aid knowledge. Topics include:

•             Cardiac arrest: opioid overdose
•             AED operation
•             Infectious bloodborne diseases
•             Choking
•             Control of bleeding
•             Shock
•             Stroke
•             Poisoning
•             Altered mental status
•             Concussion
•             Nosebleed
•             Injured tooth
•             Burns
•             Heat and cold emergencies
•             Seizures
•             Bites and stings
 
This course conforms to the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid.
 
By successfully completing this online class, students will receive a Certificate of Online Training. If a certification card is needed, student must successfully complete a hands-on skill session with a currently authorized HSI Instructor. Please contact via email if a hands-on-skill session is needed after completing this course. Alternatively, you may sign up for one of our Blended Classes which include the online class as well as skill session at a discounted rate compared to taking this course and requesting a skill session.
